Shaoyang Xingda: Join hands with Trelleborg to move towards the forefront of the industry

Shaoyang is one of more than 300 prefecture-level and above cities in China. This city in the central province of Hunan is not well known to many Chinese. However, Shaoyang Xingda Precision Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is very well-known in the industry and is a pioneer in the manufacture of nitrogen springs in China.

Nitrogen springs are now widely used in automotive molds, but China only established relevant industry standards around 2010. As early as 2003, Xingda began the research and development of nitrogen springs. In 2008, the nitrogen spring developed by Xingda has been mass-produced. As a pioneer in the production of nitrogen springs, Xingda participated in the formulation of national standards.

 

"the development of xingda was not smooth sailing either. before the company changed its system, there were about 400 employees, but at that time they could not pay wages. the whole company was in a panic." Zuo Mingliang, general manager of Xingda, recalled.

 

Initially, Xingda mainly for the automotive repair industry, the production of shock absorber products. But they soon found another gap in the domestic market. Wang Y1 Ring, the company's existing shareholder, found that the imported automobile mold used by an automobile company needed to be repaired due to the failure of the nitrogen spring. When he took it out with his colleagues and tried to repair the nitrogen spring, he was deeply attracted by the nitrogen spring.

"Traditional springs are prone to deformation after long-term use. As long as the nitrogen spring does not leak, this problem will not occur." Zuo Mingliang said.

 

However, there was no nitrogen spring manufacturer in China at that time, and the relevant information and technology were very limited. Nevertheless, Zuo Mingliang and his colleagues quickly launched a research and development project for the product.

 

Due to the lack of funds, Xingda can only invest the benefits of shock absorbers in research and development. The research and development was eventually successful four years later, and most of the $2 million spent on research and development was borrowed.

 

Hinda soon encountered new challenges. At that time, China's nitrogen spring market was monopolized by foreign companies, and many automakers were worried about the quality of Xingda's products.

 

In order to persuade the automakers to accept Xingda, Zuo Mingliang and his colleagues had to provide the products free of charge for the automakers to try out.

 

Xingda eventually won the trust of customers, but new problems soon emerged. Due to poor sealing, Xingda's products have air leakage, which greatly affects the service life of the products.

 

In the next three years, Xingda contacted many seal suppliers and tried various sealing solutions, but the results were not satisfactory.

 

By chance, Zuo Mingliang saw the logo of Trelleborg on an imported nitrogen spring. He later learned that the internationally renowned nitrogen spring manufacturer used the sealing solution provided by Trelleborg.

In 2013, Zuo Mingliang began to experiment with Trelleborg's seals, such as U-rings, polyurethane O-rings and guide belts. Due to the excellent quality, in 2015, Xingda used Trelleborg products in all of its nitrogen springs. Zuo Mingliang said: "The seal is a key element to ensure the quality and performance of the nitrogen spring. Trelleborg's products greatly improve the quality of the Xingda nitrogen spring."

 

Since 2013, the turnover of Xingda nitrogen spring has maintained an annual growth of 20-30%, and reached more than 6000 million yuan last year.

 

"We have always been in close contact with Trelleborg. Initially, Trelleborg's R & D staff visited Xingda at least twice a month. Even now, Trelleborg's R & D staff basically visit once a month." Zuo Mingliang said. Last year, the business volume of cooperation between the two sides has exceeded 4 million yuan.

 

Xingda has been increasing its research and development efforts to become a well-known supplier to the booming global robotics industry. Recently, in order to win an order from a robot manufacturer, the two sides upgraded their cooperation mode.

 

"Previously, Trelleborg only provided solutions based on our products. This time, Trelleborg has been involved in the design of our products from an early stage. This is a great help for Trelleborg to better understand our products and provide more suitable solutions." Zuo Mingliang said.

 

At the same time, Xingda is also working on the research and development of smart car tailgates, and a brand-new factory building is under intense construction. Zuo Mingliang said that Xingda's turnover is expected to increase to 5-1 billion yuan in 2025.
